MC Driving Excellence delivers comprehensive Class 5 Heavy Combination licence training in Auckland and Hamilton. This intensive one and a half day course prepares drivers for their Full Class 5 licence with expert instruction, practical coaching, and NZQA unit standard assessments.

What Can You Drive with a Full Class 5 Licence?
- A heavy combination vehicle with a Gross Laden Weight (GLW) of over 25,000kg.
- All vehicles covered under Classes 1, 2, 3, and 4.
Entry Requirements
- Hold a current and valid Class 5 Learner Licence.
- If under 25 years old, a 3-month waiting period applies. (No waiting period for drivers aged 25 and over.)
- Provide evidence of practical driver training prior to assessment.
- If Unit Standard 24089 has been completed within the last 12 months, it does not need to be repeated for this course.
Course Content
- Unit Standard 24089 (if required): Fatigue management, work time, and driver logbook.
- Unit Standard 15158: Pre-start checks, vehicle preparation, and safe shutdown procedures.
- Unit Standard 17577: Theory training and assessment.
- 2 hours of pre-licensing practical driving and coaching.
- Full Class 5 practical driving assessment.
- Feedback and acknowledgement of assessment results.
- Optional re-assessment available (additional fees apply if required).
